Michael Bublé Gets Emotional Over Contestant’s Journey on The Voice: “I Couldn’t Get Through It”

Tuesday’s episode of The Voice brought heartfelt moments and emotional performances, with coach Michael Bublé sharing a deeply personal connection to one contestant’s story. Team member Sloane Simon faced a challenging Playoffs performance as her father battled cancer and passed away just before her time on stage.

Bublé, who revealed in 2016 that his then 3-year-old son, Noah, had been diagnosed with liver cancer and has since gone into remission, found himself reflecting on his own experience.

Bublé’s Connection to Simon’s Journey

During rehearsals with Simon and guest advisor Carly Pearce, Bublé opened up: “I went through my own personal thing when my son got sick, and I couldn’t get through it. I just couldn’t, and that’s okay. Like you said, [we’re] human beings. This is a show, and it’s not as big as you, as important as you and your trajectory and your journey.”

Simon, a 19-year-old from Pittsburgh, dedicated herself to her performance, singing Chappell Roan’s Good Luck, Babe! Her family, including her father before his passing, had encouraged her to continue pursuing her dreams on The Voice.

A Performance That Moved Everyone

When Simon took the stage, her raw emotion resonated deeply with the coaches and audience. Snoop Dogg, visibly moved, walked onstage to give her a hug, saying, “The spirit of your father is telling me to give you a hug right now. You did amazing.”

Gwen Stefani, Simon’s original coach, wiped away tears, and Reba McEntire was also visibly emotional. Snoop summed it up perfectly: “Sister Sloane, I’m proud of you. Dad’s proud of you. Thank you so much.”

Bublé praised her strength and performance, calling it “marvelous” and adding that her father “would be so proud.” He later reflected, “I have no idea how she had the inner strength to pull this off under the circumstances.”

Saying Goodbye

Despite the emotional connection and admiration for Simon’s performance, Bublé ultimately did not advance her to the Live Shows. She was one of three contestants sent home, alongside Jaukeem Fortson and Cameron Wright. Bublé chose to bring Shye and Sofronio Vasquez to the final round, set to air after the holiday break.

A Show of Resilience and Support

Tuesday’s episode highlighted the resilience of the contestants and the genuine bond between the coaches and performers. While Simon’s journey on The Voice has ended, her strength and emotional delivery left a lasting impression on both the coaches and viewers.
